The most celebrated Hanuman pilgrimage center in Dindigul-Madurai region; situated on the scenic northern bank of the Vaigai River; consecrated by Madurai Nayaka rulers as a military and spiritual sentinel; famous for the "Vada Maalai" (garland of 1008 vadas) and butter alankara. Traditional belief: Eradication of chronic fear, protection from evil spirits, relief from Shani Dosha (Saturn afflictions) and Sade Sati, success in competitive ventures, and courage.
