The First of the six sacred Arupadai Veedu abodes of Lord Murugan; holy site where Lord Murugan wedded divine princess Devasena (daughter of Indra) after vanquishing demon Surapadman; unique cave shrine where Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Durga, and Ganesha are carved side-by-side in rock-cut majesty; where Sangam poet Nakkeerar was rescued from a demon cave. Traditional belief: Supreme grant of matrimonial alliances, harmony in married life, removal of astrological marriage doshas, success in competitive ventures, and liberation.
